CLEAN PERFUME

Clean is one of my favorite perfume brands.
I get a lot of questions and compliments when I wear it.
To be honest, I enjoy telling them what it is especially because this brand is not very well known.
I haven't met anyone who knows or wears it.

I am very loyal when it comes to fragrances.
Most of the time I stick with the ones I like already.
These three in the picture are my absolute favorites at the moment.

Skin is the feminine one. I would wear this on a date night. It's got a delicate floral scent and leaves a warm musky scent with a hint of vanilla later on.

Shower fresh is pretty much my everyday perfume during spring/summer.It's so refreshing and up-lifting. It literally makes me feel like that I just got out of a shower. It's zesty and citrusy. It has lemon, mandarin and orange in the top note. I like how it lingers on my skin all day and not be overwhelming.

Fresh laundry is the one I wear to work.
Somehow this is the perfume you wear and feel so smart and professional! The name itself describes it all. It's just a crisp, soapy linen scent. There is nothing more pleasant than being simple and clean.

BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP

We know spring is almost here, but it's still a little bit too chilly to have a green smoothie for breakfast yet. I was so glad when I found an easy vegetable soup recipe from vegetarian cook Anna Jones just in time. This is a healthy & hearty recipe using very simple ingredients. Anna also shows three different ways so one batch is good throughout the week without getting tired of it.

BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP
(6 servings)
1 onion
2 carrots
2 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon of fresh thyme
1 tablespoon of cumin seeds
1 tablespoon of fennel seeds
2 sweet potatoes
1/2 butternut squash
A pinch of salt
A pinch of pepper
2 handfuls of spinach
1 pack of vegetable stock

1.Chop the onion and carrots and slice the garlic. Drizzle some olive oil in a pot on a medium heat and then put carrot and garlic on a medium heat. Give it a few good stir. Pick the fresh thyme leave from it's stem and put it in the pot. Pop in cumin seeds and fennel seeds as well.

2.While the onion mixture is being cooked, peel the sweet potatoes and cut them into cubes. Chop the butternut squash about the same size. Put the sweet potatoes and butternut squash in the pot. Pop in a good pinch of salt and pepper.

3.Pour the vegetable stock in and leave that to simmer on a medium heat for 20-30mins until the vegetable has cooked through.
When the sweet potatoes and butternut squash cubes are starting to break down, stir in the spinach.

Add-on suggestions
1.Chunky- Through some beans and top off with fried sage leaves
2.Creamy and grainy - Blend it nice and creamy and add some cooked brown rice and plain greek yogurt
3.Creamy and spicy - Drizzle thyme and chilly oil on the blended soup.

I liked no.2 + a poached egg as some extra protein :)

Enjoy!

SQUEAKY GREEN

I have very very sensitive skin. Especially my scalp gets really angry and break out whenever I move to different places or even when I travel too. I tried quite a few products to soothe my scalp and found the one. It's Squeaky Green from Lush (Of course), and it's a shampoo bar or solid shampoo. Here's how they explain what it has.

Stimulating rosemary, peppermint and tea tree cleanse the scalp and hair, and soothing vanilla and chamomile calm any irritation or itchiness.

All these goodies calm my angry scalp while away or when I get back home after a trip. And it also leaves my hair soft with fresh herbal scent. I love Lush's shampoo bars because they last quite a while and also very eco-friendly(no packaging or preservatives).

PHO DRUMSTICKS

I saw this 'Pho Wings' recipe on Serena's blog, The Spicy Stiletto and thought I'd give it a try. I changed wings to drumsticks for more meat and also adjusted other ingredients a little bit for my personal tastes. I had them with my go to drink, orangeade(I just squeeze fresh oranges and mix it with sprite! so yummy) and some celery and carrot sticks. It's a great dish with really simple cooking process.

Pho Drumsticks
(2 servings/8 drumsticks)

8 drumsticks
1/3 cup Sriracha
2/3 cup Hoisin sauce
2 tablespoon Olive oil
Salt and Pepper,as desired
1 tablespoon Cilantro,finely chopped(optional)
1 tablespoon Spring onion,finely chopped(optional)
1 tablespoon Crushed Peanuts(optional)

Preheat oven to 375.

Rinse drumsticks with cold water and pat dry the excess water with paper towels.

Place drumsticks on a baking tray, drizzle with olive oil and a few pinches of salt and pepper.

Bake for 30 mins, turn them over and bake the other side for 30 mins.Take them out when the outside of the drumsticks looks golden brown and crunchy.

Remove the drumsticks from oven and place in a large bowl. Toss with Sriracha and Hoisin sauce until they are evenly coated, then add cilantro and spring onion and give one last toss. Sprinkle crushed peanuts on top.

MY OFFICE ESSENTIALS

Today I wanted to share the things that I always keep on my desk at work. For those who don't know or are new to my blog, I am a 9-6 working girl.

The skin around my nails is always dry no matter what season of a year but especially winter time it just gets worse I  need extra care for it.I discovered Bio Oil a year ago (Thank God!), I've been using it ever since and my hands thank me! I just mix a drop of Bio Oil and some hand cream. It makes my hands moisturized for longer.

I like to keep a perfume on my desk.
I sometimes forget to spray some in the morning so I started bringing one to work and it ended up staying there.
This month I have been using Body Shop White Musk Perfume oil and I appreciate the subtleness, it's just enough to give that nice aroma to your day.
I realized that putting some perfume on is a great way to freshen up in the afternoons. And sometimes I have to go to a sudden meeting with some clients, smelling nice definitely gives me confidence.

I appreciate being warm in the office, but sometimes air-conditioning can be too harsh on my skin. My face feels really dry usually in the morning time when they blast the heater. My skin tends to break out when it's dry so Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rose Water is one of my winter skincare staples! I usually spray once as soon as I get in the office and once more after lunch break, leaving my skin hydrated.

With my really busy career and blogging, I have to be super organized. I enjoy planning ahead anyways, so I just have to keep a scheduler to prioritize and to fit in the most projects for my blog.
I am currently using Sugar Paper Los Angeles 2015 Planner and I love the layout. It's just so simple and clean weekly & monthly calendars. I write down a list of each day's tasks on the weekly ones and on the monthly ones I mark my meetings and business trips.

Am I a coffee person? Hell yeah!
I heart coffee so much. I used to drink 3-4 cups of coffee a day but I did my research and now I know too much of it isn't good for you so now I have to have ONE good cup of coffee every morning. I normally french press my coffee but I don't have time every morning. For those days, Starbucks Via Ready to Brew comes in handy. Via is instant coffee powder and it's almost as good as brewed coffee from starbucks stores! They have quite a few options but my favorite is Italian Roast. I like a little bit of milk in my coffee and I think the boldness of Italian Roast tastes the best with milk. I recently purchased a Starbucks Verismo To-Go Tumbler. It's double-walled stainless steel tumbler with tapered shape and mirror shine. I make my coffee in the tumbler and have it on the go! I love the easy grib and how long it keeps the coffee hot.

I just ran out of my hand cream.
L'occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream is my go-to
but I want to try something different this time.
Any recommendations?

TUCKED IN

Although I didn't enjoy clearing the thick snow off my car,
I do appreciate this gorgeous post-snowpocalypse background.
I recently started tucking sweaters in.
I think wearing them like that especially with skinny jeans looks so effortless and chic.
With the boyfriend fit coat and my city bag,
I felt like trying the messy low ponytail.

BLACKBERRY & BAY BY JO MALONE

I've been wanting to try Joe Malone's cologne for ages
and finally got my hands on it!(little excited scream)

My manager at work just got married a couple months ago
and when she was going on her honeymoon to Hawaii, I got her a surprise gift which was a full bag of Lush bath bombs.
On her first day back to work, she gave this Blackberry & Bay Cologne as a thank you present.
How nice! I was like how did you know that I wanted this??

"Childhood memories of blackberry picking...A burst of deep, tart blackberry juice, blending with the freshness of just-gathered bay and brambly woods. Vibrant and verdant."

Is how they explain.
I've tried it on for a few weeks now and I have to say that I really appreciate fruity cologne that is not overly sweet like this one. Especially the light woody base nicely balances out the sweetness.  I love how it sits on my skin for a good about of time.
What's cool about Joe Malone Cologne is that you can combine a couple different ones together.
I can't wait to get another one and mix it up with this!

FUR HAT

How gorgeous is this fur hat?
I love how it covers my ears and it's so warm and soft.
Such a great winter statement accessory!
Since the hat is brownish, I opted for this olive color sweater.
Comfy and practical, really nice for the nippy weather we are having now.

WINTER TIME SPORTS LUXE GUIDE

Hi, Guys.
It looks like Sports Luxe trend is definitely in for the rest of this year.
Well, it's easy wear the trend in warmer weather.
But has any of you wondered how do you pull it off in this ice weather?

That's why I created this Winter Time Sports Luxe Guide collage.
I chose this Yankees beanie from the baseball hats on fanatics.
simply I thought I could use something that would keep me warm
and NY is where I am now! :)
And I went for this gorgeous deep V neck sweater
and the bra top as a nice detail.
One of my winter staples is fax leather pants/leggings.
They are warm, go along with anything and make you look chic!
For shoes, I would wear these Vans for Jcrew high tops.
To finish the look, I have chosen an oversized leather jacket.

I think you don't have to make it all sporty and give up your favorite pieces for the trend.
You can mix it up with a few sporty accessories like the collage I made.

Thanks for reading.
Stay warm!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year everyone!
I finally decided to come back to blogging world after a long long break.
It took me quite a lot of thinking and courage..but I am happy to be here writing again!
Here are my New Year's Resolutions.

1.Be Fitter.

I used to work out at least 5 times a week. I would simply exercise at the gym, swim or even go hiking. With the new career and settling in another country, it has been pretty hard for me to go to gym regularly in the past year during the weekday.
I'm going to start getting up a little bit earlier and working out at home.I've been trying numerous different green smoothies for the past year, and I learned that what you eat is truly what you are! My favorite combination for green smoothie is pineapple + carrot + ginger + baby spanich + coconut water + Honey:) So this year I will be working on some healthy recipes, too.
Oh last but not least, I am going to intentionally drink more water and stay hydrated.I don't feel thirsty easily and I also drink a lot of coffee and tea.As a result, I get dehydrated without even knowing.

2.Stay Inspired.

This was the biggest issue for me in 2014.I got myself stressed out over writing & posting, and kinda lost the interest on blogging. If you are a blogger, you would understand what I'm talking about and how I felt during that time.
As one of a few solutions, I am going to read more in 2015. There's a saying "Reading books is like dreaming with eyes open" and I totally agree. I literally have a list that I want to read, and I am going to read at least one book every two weeks.
I think sharing inspirations here on my blog will help me remind myself where I get inspirations from. This way, I can stay inspired while I inspire others too!

3.Explore More.

I really hope I would be able to see more of the world and I will try my best to make it happen!
This also means that I will be going out of my comfort zone and trying new things.
It could be new places, new dishes and new brands that I've never tried before.

4.Be Organized.

I've moved into a new house not too long ago. Until just recently, I still had boxes and bags of stuff around me, and I had an excuse to kinda put things everywhere.I now realized how much effort and time consuming it was to clean up the mess I made all at once. It's just a lot easier if I get tidy tidy every day.
I also started donating clothes that I don't wear anymore to H&M.You can bring your old clothes, bed sheets and any fabric to one of the H&M store near you, they recycle them and give you 15% discount coupons. More about it here.
On another note, I sell my clothes, accessories and bags on Depop, which is a mobile app.
I think It's a great way to offer people some of my old cool stuff. If you are interested, you can find me @vickykimthekorean on Depop.

Do you have any New Year's Resolution?
